Santiago Mostyn – Delay

The work "Delay" presents us with a young man – the artist himself – as he moves and dances through the streets of Stockholm. On several occasions he slows down and interacts with strangers he encounters, all of whom are well-dressed white men. The footage has a dreamlike quality and the film's protagonist appears in moments like a messiah, attempting to bring tenderness to a society increasingly marked by racist brutality. But however gently given, the man's transgressive touch is a double-edged sword, posing a threat to these priviledged strangers who don't know how to respond and whose range of baffled reactions is recorded for us to observe.

Music by Slow Wave (Susanna Jablonski and William Rickman)
