Trulee Hall – The Boob Dance

In The Boob Dance, Trulee Hall points to the sexualization of the female body through tongue-in-cheek satire. Hall outfits her actors in her own sculptural boob costumes, a metaphoric nod to the way in which women are reduced to their body parts. The Boob Dance’s range of characters speaks to clichéd eroticizations of femininity: the bohemian, country girl, nature goddess, and warrior. The artist illustrates gendered objectification through hyperbole, and in doing so, she disrupts the male gaze.
