Marco Godoy – The Distance Between Us

"The skin. It holds us together, it is the largest organ formed by millions of cells and it is not straight at all. Its thickness varies from 0.5 mm to 1 cm. The border between my inside and my outside varies. The metal wires that make barb wires are barely 3mm thick. In some cases the skin is thicker than the barb wire. And what about the borders between countries? The average length of a border also varies, like skin, between three meters and three kilometers. And the thickness of a passport? The passport that permits me to cross a border line measures a few millimetres. A few millimetres, Just a few millimetres"

By asking these questions, the protagonist of the video opens a discussion on the relationship between natural and fictitious borders. The distance that certain borders establish is not always physical. Godoy is interested in pointing out how many of them are fictions, since power itself is a fiction and all the legality around it plays with those parameters.
