<h2><a href="https://vimeo.com/524957980">WATCH HERE</a></h2><p> In this special event, renowned video artist George Barber discusses his practice, career and current editions for Daata with Whitechapel's Moving Image Curator, Gareth Evans. The talk also covers his new feature film, <em>The Mindset Suite</em>, which is currently available on the LUX Player.</p>
<p>George Barber's videos for Daata are both eclectic and inventive. His recent works incorporate found footage, performative monologues and dark humour to tackle topical issues such as military drones and the global refugee crisis. Barber’s original contribution to video art results in many short, precise works that are both thoughtful and entertaining, a quality that sets him apart and has earned him much loyal support amongst a younger generation.</p>

<p>George Barber (1958, Guyana, lives and works in London), rose to prominence in the 1980s as a pioneer of the Scratch Video movement. Barber’s works have been shown in festivals, galleries and broadcast on television throughout the world and awarded major prizes at many international festivals.</p>
<p>Recent solo exhibitions include Chapter Arts, Cardiff, Waterside Contemporary, London, and Young Projects, Los Angles, USA. His works have been shown at London Film Festival, Tate Britain, Tate Modern, ICA and the Royal Academy.</p>

<p>Gareth Evans is a London-based writer, editor, film and event producer and Whitechapel Gallery’s Adjunct Moving Image Curator. He hosts the LRB Screen at Home programme and curates for Forum of the Future Porto, Estuary, First Light, Flipside and Swedenborg Film Festivals.<br></p>
